More US organizations are offering employee wellness programs as a workplace benefit in order to contain health care costs and strengthen employee engagement. However, little is known about effective employee wellness programs in senior living and health care settings. In fall 2013, Mather LifeWays partnered with LeadingAge, American Seniors Housing Association, and Caring Communities to survey these industries on employee wellness programs. A national sample of 350 health organizations participated, representing 843 individual senior living communities, long-term care communities, and hospitals, with a total of nearly 134,000 employees.
