Call for Papers for 2011 Seniors Housing & Care Journal, Best Research Paper to Receive Award; New Investigator Scholarship Program Announced

Evanston, Ill. (November 22, 2010) – Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging and the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry have announced that article submissions for the 2011 edition of Seniors Housing & Care Journal are now being accepted. The deadline for submissions is April 4, 2011.

Published since 1993, Seniors Housing & Care Journal is a peer-reviewed annual publication that focuses on applied research and best practices in the fields of seniors housing and long-term care. The Journal is distributed to more than 2,000 long-term care managers, executives, and investors at the annual conference of the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry, which will be in Washington, D.C., September 21-23, 2011.

Scientific papers submitted must be based on completed research and demonstrate relevance for the senior living industry. Topics of interest include: macro trends and market analysis; senior housing issues; risk management; operations; government, policy, or regulatory issues; and service/care outcomes data. Journal editors select one outstanding research paper annually for special recognition as the GE Healthcare Financial Services Best Research Paper. “Authors submitting papers to the Journal can expect personalized attention and a speedy, one to two month review process,” said Linda Hollinger Smith, PhD., Vice President, Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging, and Managing Editor of the Journal.

This year, GE Healthcare Financial Services has expanded its support of the Journal by sponsoring a new $2,500 scholarship for the New Investigator Scholarship Award, in addition to its $2,500 award for the Best Research Paper. The New Investigator Scholarship will be given to a graduate student or new investigator for an original, evidence-based paper that addresses critical issues faced by professionals, providers, or investors in the field of senior living. Winning papers will be published in the 2011 Journal. Applicants for the New Investigator Scholarship must either be currently enrolled in a doctoral program or must have completed all requirements of their doctoral program no more than one year before time of submission.
