Deloitte Report: Gaps & Opportunities in Consumer Engagement with Health Technologies

The Deloitte Center for Health Solutions released an issue brief based on a survey of US health care consumers. The survey, designed to be representative to the US population, explored consumer beliefs and behaviors, found that health information technologies are underutilized relative to other information technologies, which presents an opportunity for providers to find new ways to engage consumers.

A majority of respondents across age groups reported that, in the event of a chronic condition requiring regular medical checks, they would like to use a self-monitoring device to remotely send information to their doctor. Older adults reported less interest in using a smartphone to access their medical records than did younger adults, but are more likely than younger cohorts to maintain electronic personal health records.
